Composer’s Note:
Katsudon is written for one of my closest friends, Brandon Lim. This is my third solo composition written for a 4.3-octave marimba, aimed at intermediate-level players. The piece begins with a funky groove in 7/8 and seamlessly shifts between 7/8 and 4/4 throughout. It features fast, fluid licks that require the use of 1-2-3-4 stickings and inner mallets, as well as the ability to play intervals such as 3rds, 5ths, and others.
