Crushed is written for solo vibraphone and is an intermediate-to-advanced level solo under 5 minutes.
This piece was inspired by my first car, which accompanied me through many important moments of my life—moving between cities, commuting to my first job, driving friends around, and countless everyday journeys.
The driving and funky rhythm represents the nervous energy and anxiety that often followed me through different places and situations.
In contrast, the slower middle section reflects the fond memories and joyful experiences I shared with the car, serving as a remembrance of the many miles and moments we spent together.
Through Crushed, I wanted to share both the emotions of losing the car and the gratitude I felt for what that chapter of my life meant to me.
