AMP (Allegro-Moderato-Presto) is an advanced level multi percussion solo written in three movements for three pitched glass objects, metal, rattle, guiro, and a single glockenspiel note.

I’ve always wanted to write a multi-percussion piece that was apartment and travel

friendly. As percussionists, we’re constantly negotiating space—finding places where

we can practice without disturbing everyone around us since our instruments tend to

be loud and figuring out how to pack and fit an entire setup into a car or a suitcase.

Amp grew out of that idea. I challenged myself to create a piece using a small

collection of easily accessible objects that you can find at home while still exploring a

wide range of sounds, textures, and musical possibilities.

The piece is approximately 8½ minutes long. The second movement includes an

optional opening section for performers who would like to extend the work to nearly

10 minutes. Additionally, each movement can be played as a stand alone.
